Private Surf Lessons for Every Level

We strive to provide students with an experience that is unlike any other surf school. Our goal is for students to have fun, build skills, and stay safe. Having the right instructor and equipment is what makes that all come together. The biggest accomplishment is for our students to be able to catch waves without assistance. Through our programs and training, we aim to help students set, meet, and exceed their expectations.

You don’t have to start alone. We also have Surf Camps in Wrightsville Beach. See information on our Surf Camps for Youth. We also have Surf Camps for Adults.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a Private Lesson Like?
We offer two private lesson times, 1.5 hr and 2 hour long lessons. We do recommend that first timers should take a 1.5 hour long lesson. Bigger groups are advised to take a 2 hour lesson. The first 15-20 minutes is spent on the beach going over the water safety, equipment and paddling/pop up techniques. Once we have established the groundwork, we then hit the water for the rest of the time to work on reading, paddling and ultimately riding waves.
How many People can be booked for a single lesson?
Want to get your friends and family together and do something fun? We can cater groups up to 16 people. We recommend that bigger groups give our office a call to schedule.
How many instructors should be present?
The maximum student-to-instructor ratio is 3:1. We recommend that all classes with children under the age of 12 have a 2:1 instructor ratio. Children under the age of 7 must have a personal instructor. Additional Instructors can be added for $65.
Times that are recommended to book?
Lesson start times that are from 7-11am are recommended along with a low tide. We encourage students to give our office a call. We do check all lesson times and correlate with tides if the conditions don’t look in our favor.
How are you instructors trained?
Our instructors are trained in-house by our water safety team who consist of lifelong watermen and ocean lifeguards. All instructors are above the age of 18.
Do you offer advanced surf instruction?
We offer classes for all abilities! If you are interested and want to advance your skills, we offer three day packages that are multiple lessons with the same coach.
What does the process of booking a lesson look like?

You can book online or over the phone. If booking online, you will receive a confirmation email and should receive and email from our staff within 24 hours of your booking. We will look at tides and predicted forecast to see what the optimal time will be. A day before your scheduled lesson, your instructor will reach out to you via a text to introduce themselves and confirm time and booking.

What if conditions aren't suitable to go out?
If in doubt, we don’t go out! If conditions look detrimental to the lesson or to the student, we offer make-up lessons that can be scheduled with your availability. All lessons canceled by the student within 24 hours of their lesson will be charged in its entirety.
